Gary Dean “Gary Boy” Higley, 59 of Atchison, KS passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Mosiac Life Care, St. Joseph, MO surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2015 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Jason Terpack officiating. Burial will follow at Muscotah Cemetery, Muscotah, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cummings Christian Church or Meals on Wheels and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at ww.beckerdyer.com.

Gary was born June 29, 1955, in Atchison, KS the son of Don and Dorothy (Brun) Higley. He was a member of Cumming Christian Church. Gary was a family man, he loved being with his parents, going to eat at Cheddars almost every Saturday after dialysis, going on gas station breaks with his dad, watching The Walton’s with his mother and always being by her side. Gary loved his sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary participated in the Special Olympics; he enjoyed his golf cart, going to Wal-Mart. Gary was a tough guy but never knew a stranger and followed the Golden Rule. He would always greet you with a big “hi” and his special wave.

Gary is survived by his parents, Don and Dorothy Higley, of the home, three sisters; Cindy Higley, Atchison, KS, Cathy Higley, Atchison, KS, Teila and Matthew Keys, Atchison, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will forever be our hero.
