JoAnn Berger, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Atchison Hospital after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer.

JoAnn has requested cremation and a graveside service, which will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 25th, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar officiating. Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mt. Vernon Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home. JoAnn Tauchman was born on February 20, 1934, in St. Joseph, MO. the daughter of Gus and Marguerite (Walter) Tauchman. She graduated from Atchison High School and attended Washburn University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She was a member of Chapter J, PEO and was active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Lake Perry fishing many days after school.

She was married to A.C. Robert Berger on August 17, 1952, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS. He survives in the family home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carla Berger Blattner, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sally Berger, 4 grandchildren, Bart (Amber) Blattner, Eric (Amy) Blattner, Reed Berger, and Sarah (Adam) Berger Bakri. She also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren, Gwynn and Grant Blattner and Oliver Blattner. Oliver is expecting a baby brother around the end of December .
