Sally Ann (Bigelow) Hayes, 81 of Atchison, Kansas, joined the love of her life, Glenn Hayes, in Heaven on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 12:15 pm.
Sally was born in Atchison, KS the daughter of Clarence and Cecil (Clements) Bigelow on December 14, 1932. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1950. Sally worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and the Atchison Chamber of Commerce, as well as other employment. Sally and Glenn Dale Hayes were married on August 23, 1953 at the Atchison First Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member and Deaconess Emeritus. Sally and Glenn were married 56 years. Sally loved boating in Warsaw, MO, flower gardening, crafting, and many family vacations, which included her grandchildren.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joan Stanton; and her husband, Glenn Hayes.
Sally is survived by her sister, Sandra Brown, Murphy, SC; two sons, Chris (Dee) Hayes, (Sharon, mother of Chris’ five children) and Kirk Hayes; two honorary sons, Omar (Magda) Abbud from Brazil and John Boyer; seven grandchildren, Craig, Carrie, Kyle, Jocelyn, Jillian, Alice and Rauf; nine great-grandchildren, Amber, Chelsea, Josie, JP, Colin, Karmen, Zander, Bella, and Kallen; and one great-great grandchild, Joey.
Memorial Services will be 12:00 Noon, Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Cooper, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 AM until the service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
