Carrie L. Maycroft, 86, of Atchison died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Atchison Senior Village.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Monday, July 28th, 2014 at Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Kollhoff officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm Monday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Hospice or Atchison Senior Village and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Carrie was born on June 21, 1928 in Sparks, KS the daughter of Charles Chester and Lola Etta (Miller) Searles. Carrie worked in sales for several places including J.C. Penney’s, Sears, Mop Factory and Ramsey’s Dept. Store before Olin Mills, Company. She retired in 1983. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Atchison, KS, the Eastern Star, Beauceaunts, was a past Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls, Chapter 57, and Grand Cross of Color. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing cards, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to Edwin Maycroft on April 25, 1944. Mr. Maycroft preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2003. Survivors include five daughters, Carol VanWagoner, Topeka, KS., Shirley(Dave) Dwyer, Elwood, KS., Mary Lou (Bob) Weinmann, Smithville, MO., Elaine (Chip) Fultz, Atchison, KS., and Joyce (Jeff) Curran, Garden City, KS. Twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, an aunt and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, Ed, two brothers, Howard David Searles & Marvin Searles, a sister, Betty Wilburn, and four grandchildren, David & Daniel Weinmann, Stacey Esbeck and Carrie Fultz, preceded her in death.
