Clyde Robert Strine, 67 of Effingham, KS passed away Tuesday, July 01, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS with Pastor Mark Twombly, Pastor Don Payne and Ryan Van Peursem as officiates. Burial will follow in Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, KS. Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the funeral home in Atchison, KS. Memorials are suggested to NEK Hospice or Monrovia Cemetery Care and Maintenance and Trust and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Clyde was born September 7, 1946 in Horton, KS the son of Earl and Wilda (Hawk) Strine. He graduated from ACCHS in 1964, and attended two years at Highland Community College. Clyde joined the National Guard and served during the Vietnam Conflict before working for the Effingham COOP later known as Jackson Farmers as feed mill manager and propane truck driver. Clyde attended Community of Christ, Atchison, KS. He was very involved in Lion’s Club, holding many positions within the club. Clyde also served the Effingham community on Effingham city council, past Mayor of Effingham, was also past Chief of the volunteer fire department. He belonged to Atchison VFW and American Legion. Clyde loved playing softball, barbequing, gardening, socializing with friends and watching his grandchildren’s sporting and musical events.

Clyde married Lorraine Wahlert on April 25, 1968 in Atchison, KS. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons; Duane (Marcie) Strine, Scott City, KS, Bret (Shelly) Strine, Lebanon, KS, two brothers; Wayne (Pat) Strine, Effingham, KS, Jim Strine, Hays, KS, eight grandchildren; Brayden, Baron, Brooke, Brody, Courtney, Jamie, Robert, Bailey.
