Obituary for Philip Stacy Townsend

Philip Townsend, 73 of Baton Rouge, LA, formerly of Atchison, KS passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 in Baton Rouge, LA.
Graveside service and burial ( have been postponed please check back ) at Oak Hill Cemetery with David Hausmann and Bob Flack officiating. Memorials are suggested to final expenses and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
Philip was born August 26, 1940 in Atchison KS, the son of Ralph and Anna (Rolfes) Townsend. He retired from the United State Navy after twenty-two years of service. He then worked as a machinist in the shipyards. Philip was a member of the Riverbend Bible Church, Atchison. He enjoyed fishing, prospecting and treasure hunting.
He and Marlene Kelly have been married for forty-seven years. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include one son; John Townsend, daughter in law; Susan Townsend, Baton Rouge, LA, a step-daughter; Shawna Smart, Arizona, three sisters; Carol McClard, Sara Townsend and Sally Townsend and one granddaughter; Anna Townsend.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
