Obituary for Genevieve Imogene Eylar (Whittaker)
Genevieve Imogene Eylar, 90, St. Joseph, formerly of Atchison, KS died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the LaVerna Nursing Home, Savannah, MO.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Sat. April 19, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Hendon, officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service on Sat. at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Doniphan Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Genevieve may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.
Genevieve was born on Jan. 17, 1924 on the farm in Doniphan County the daughter of Frank P. and Tena L. (Roundy) Whittaker. She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1942. She worked as a farm wife and homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, and enjoyed sewing, gardening and yard work.
She was married to Edward C. Eylar on April 28, 1945 in Atchison KS. Mr. Eylar preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1985. Her parents and a sister, Maxine Lindsey also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Edward C. (Janice) Eylar, Jr, Atchison, KS. , a daughter, Marsha A. (Richard) Wright, St. Joseph, MO., four grandchildren, Thad, Neal and Tory Eylar, and Abra Rush and four great grandchildren, Zeven Davies, Brooks Eylar and Alya & Charli Rush and two step great grandchildren, Presley and Kendra Rodecap, several nieces and nephews and her dog – Puggins.
