David Carl Bodenhausen, 81 of Effingham KS passed away Monday March 31, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, KS.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday April 4, 2014 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS with Rev. Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday April 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Effingham Union Church or Monrovia Cemetery Care & Maintenance Trust and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

David was born January 11, 1933 in Atchison, KS the son of Carl H. and Mabel (Pike) Bodenhausen. He graduated from ACCHS in 1950. David was a farmer and a salesman for MoorMan’s Feed Company. He was a member of Effingham Union Church, where he served as the first board chairman when the Effingham United Methodist and Presbyterian Church combined. David also served on numerous committees, organizations in the church as well as the Effingham community, such as USD 377 School Board Member, 45 years in the Lions Club, Effingham Tree Board and many others.

David married Emma Joanne Sharp on July 27, 1951 in Monrovia, KS, she survives of the home. He is also survived by their daughters; Vicki and Steve Jones, Bendena, KS, Tamara and Craig Gigstad, Winchester, KS, Jayne and Todd Wehking, Lancaster, KS, grandchildren; Rochelle (Tony) Schuetz, Stephanie Jones, Derek (Laura) Gigstad, Danae (Justin) Lillie, Devin Gigstad, Courtney (Joseph) Klepees, Troy Wehking, six great grandchildren, a brother; Dennis (Judy) Bodenhausen, Lancaster, KS and a sister Doris Bunse Cosby, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wayne Bodenhausen and a sister Rose Mary Bodenhausen.
