Gloria Mae  Meyer (Handke)
Gloria Mae Meyer, 92, of Muscotah, KS, passed away Monday November 25, 2013, at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Hiawatha, KS.
Graveside service and burial will be 3:00 PM Wednesday November 27, 2013 the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS, with Rev. Al Schirmacher officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Becker Chapel, Effingham KS. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Holton, KS and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Gloria was born May 22, 1921 in Atchison County, KS the daughter of Clarence and Ella (Davis) Handke. She graduated from Muscotah High School in 1939. Gloria worked at the Mop and Garment Factory in Atchison, KS, early in her life, before she became a farming housewife. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Holton, KS, and Extension Unit, was a VBS teacher, a 4-H Leader in Muscotah and the Sunflower Ordinance in KC. She enjoyed sewing and crafts.
Gloria married Lawrence E. Meyer on November 20, 1939 in Washington, KS, he survives of the home. Additional survivors include, one son: Richard and Janice Meyer, Overbrook, KS, one daughter: Carol Joy and Jeff Hanson, Muscotah, KS, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Milton Handke.
