Condolences

Condolence From: Cindy King
Condolence: As the anniversary of Joan's passing nears, I just wanted to let the family know that I think of you often and feel your loss. Mom and I have reminisced about the many times our family went to Joan's and how much fun it was. You could always count on laughter, card games and lots of good food! It was at Joan's house that I learned handrails on the stairway were not for safety but for sliding down to the main level and that hiding under the card table while a game was going on was very entertaining. I loved all the banter and watching Mom and Dad interact with her brothers and sisters. There was always a hub of fun activity, no matter your age. I miss Joan's smile and the twinkle that was always in her eye! Wonderful memories!

Condolence: Just found out about Aunt Joan's passing-lots of good memories of her. I remember going to see the movie Spencers Mountain with her. The sisters certainly loved to play cards didn't they? And eat rum balls! She is with her other sisters and brothers now-having a great time. God Bless!

Condolence: To all my cousins, especially Aimee: We were so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was a dear friend to all those who knew her and so generous with her love and kindness. I am sorry we will not be able to come to Atchison to pay our respects. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Rose Mary and Joe

Condolence: Joan was a wonderful person. I enjoyed getting to know her through oil painting classes I taught in my home many, many years ago. She was a great painter. Your Mother loved her children and talked so fondly of all of you. We have lost a wonderful person, but heaven has gained a beautiful soul. She will be missed dearly. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Sherry

Condolence: When we remember Aunt Joan, a smile comes quickly. Her sense of humor and laugh will always be remembered. She knew a lot about kids, her own, and others lucky enough to be near her. When Dick was a child he recalls how he spent almost as much time at Aunt Joan’s as at his own home and looks upon those times as some of his best….cousins were more like brothers and sisters.
Aunt Joan was such a creative person….her paintings enjoy a special place in our home. She was never without a project.
The Hager family is known for its card games and she never liked to miss one but she didn’t go lightly on you if you were younger. The word shark comes to mind.
We enjoyed her 90th birthday party. Our grandson asked her if she was really that old because he thought she was younger and pretty cool. She laughed and
