Raymond was born May 20, 1933, in rural Missouri near Hamburg, IA, the son of Claude Henry and Bertha Bell (Moore) Gubser. Raymond served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1973 retiring as a Master Sergeant. After retirement, Raymond operated his own furniture and antique repair, refinishing and upholstery company. A man of faith, Raymond attended First Baptist Church while living in Atchison and loved any task that took him into his shop. He was fond of watching movies, needle work, bowling, and dancing. Raymond was a farmer at heart, but after being drafted into the United States Air Force during the Korean War, found he loved serving his country and stayed in military service until his retirement. Raymond rarely was without a dog to love, and always beloved by his dogs. His keen mind and memory made Raymond a magnetic storyteller.
Raymond first married Norma Joann Gubser, with whom three children resulted. He later married Judith Gubser, who preceded him in death in 2011. Survivors include a daughter, Gayle (Gordon) Bates of Forrest Lake, MN, and two sons, Brad (Lou Ann) Gubser of Castle Rock, CO, and Bruce (Carolyn) Gubser of Atchison, KS. Raymond’s stepchildren include Tony (Kim)Wanek of Hastings, NE, Mike (Anay) Wanek, Chicago, IL, Beth Wanek, Evansville, IN, Amy White, Beatrice, NE, and Nancy (Troy) Arends, Marysville, WA. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren will miss Raymond.
Raymond was also preceded by parents, two brothers and two sisters.
