The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Melvin Nelson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Bob Page
Condolence: My deepest condolences to “Fuzz” Nelson’s family!
Fuzz was my sgt most of the time while I served on the Atchison Police Dept. from Jan. 1969 to December 1971 when I transferred down to Gladstone, Mo.

I learn a lot from his guidance and patience....he was quite a mentor to his fellow officers! A real pleasure to serve with and know. He will be missed by all that knew him, RIP dear friend!!

Condolence From: Connie Taliaferro Berry
Condolence: Chuck, writing for all the Taliaferro kids (Joan, Bill Richard, Hal, Jan and myself), we wanted to say that we truly thought the world of your mom and dad. A trip back to Atchison was elevated to a really great trip when we would run in to and able to visit with them when we were out to lunch or just out and about. Condolences from all of us
