Obituary for LeRoy Harold Frakes

LeRoy Harold Frakes, 88 of Horton, KS died on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020 at the Mission Village Nursing Home, Horton, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August. 14, 2020 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Al Schirmacher officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Huron Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home. LeRoy was born on June 10, 1932 in Denton, KS the son of Albert and Cosetta (Delzeit) Frakes. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. LeRoy worked for the former LFM Foundry, Lincoln Grain, at Wilde Tool for many years, and last in housekeeping for the Golden Eagle Casino. LeRoy had attended Catholic Churches in Everest and Purcell, KS. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, woodworking, playing the guitar, bird watching and cutting wood.

He was married to Violet Barnthson on Sept. 6, 1952. They were later divorced. LeRoy was later married to Rose Cox. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Rusty (Jeanne) Frakes, Everest, KS, two daughters; Flori Hicks, Marysville, KS and Cosetta Frakes, Horton, KS, a brother, Bill Frakes, Manhattan, KS and four sisters; Clara Horn, Atchison ,KS, Mary Belz, Kansas City, KS, Linda Frakes, Kansas City, KS, and Patricia Lowry, Wichita, KS , 15 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, wife Rose, a son John Frakes a daughter Linda Phillips and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
