Obituary for Leona Mae Steuart (Kenworthy)

Leona Mae Steuart, 77 of Effingham, KS died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at Mosiac Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Feb. 27th, 2023, at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 18682 262nd Rd, Atchison with Pastor Stephen Lucas officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. The body will be cremated following the service and internment of the cremated remains will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to Faith Bible Fellowship and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Leona was born on Jan. 5, 1946 in Axtell, KS the daughter of Leonard and Ileta (Hadway) Kenworthy. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1964. She attended Cosmetology and Beautician School in Kansas City. Leona worked as a beautician for over 30 years in the Kansas City and Platte City areas. She had also been a waitress for the former Golden Buffet in Kansas City. Leona was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship Church, Atchison, where she served at Treasurer for the church, as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Seniors of Faith and the Effingham Extension Unit. She enjoyed sewing, was an artist with painting and lettering. She loved to cook, bake pies and flower gardening.

She was married to Donald A. Steuart on July 10, 1965, in Effingham, KS. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son Alan E. (Laurie) Steuart, Bonner Springs, KS, and a daughter Angela (Matt) Stivers, Kansas City, MO, a sister Diana (Jerry) Gearhart, Effingham, KS, a grandson Brett Steuart, and a great grandson Asher Steuart. Her parents, two brothers Leon Kenworthy and Keith Kuykendall, and two sisters Verna Jones and Beverly Gaddis preceded her in death.
