Obituary for Joe Bonnel

Joe Bonnel, 63, of rural Nortonville, KS, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Private Family Graveside Services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS with Rev. Bob Carter, officiating. Family will receive friends at the O’Trimble Funeral Chapel, Nortonville, on Friday evening, April 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. David Joe Bonnel was born on March 2, 1958 in Atchison, KS, the son of Sid and Deloris (Clem) Bonnel. He attended Jefferson County North Schools and was a farmer and rancher all his life in the Nortonville area. Joe was a member of the Pleasant Grove/Nortonville Christian Church. Joe was an excellent mechanic and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed dirt track racing, gardening, and taking care of his cattle.

Joe was married to Regina Cheek in 1998. They later divorced.

Survivors include his son, Jarod Bonnel, Ft. Riley, KS; daughter, Brianna Bonnel, of the home; sisters, Dorothy Hobbs, Atchison, Janet (Daniel) Neal, Valley Falls, KS, and Cindy (Leo) Scherer, Topeka, KS; brother, Rick (Donna) Bonnel, St. Joseph, MO.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Deloris Bonnel, and a brother, John Bonnel.
