James was born November 26, 1959, the son of James Brown and Betty (Duty) Brown. James enjoyed fishing, football and watching John Wayne films. His family was the most important part of his life, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Mary Waring of the home; son, Rex Knowles, Atchison, KS; daughter, Megan Brown, Atchison, KS; brothers, Joe (Barb) Brown, Greenville, SC. and Billy Maze, Kansas City, MO; sister, Brenda Fenner, Sulphur Springs, AR; Grandchildren; Tucker Brown, Bailey Stephan, Madilynn Brown and Kayten Knowles; great-grandchild, Harmonee Smith. His parents preceded him in death.
