Obituary for Harold Lee Vandeloo

Harold Lee Vandeloo, 76, of Atchison, KS died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Atchison Senior Village.

Memorial services due to COVID 19 will be at a later date and time at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Fr. Jeremy Heppler officiating. Friends may call, sign his register book and view a video tribute to Harold on Wednesday, Aug. 12th, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. The family request memorial contributions in Harold’s name be given to the Wounded Warrior in Action and should be sent in care of the funeral home. Harold was born on Oct. 29, 1944 in Atchison KS the son of Harold J. and Jessie L. (Armstrong) Vandeloo. Harold graduated from Atchison High School in 1962. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. After returning from service he went to work as a mechanic for the Trans-World Airlines (TWA). He retired in 2000 after TWA was merged with American Airlines. Harold was a member of the St. Benedict’s Church, the VFW Post # 1175, Atchison the National Rifle Association (NRA) and was a member of the local union of Machinist (UIM). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Harold was married to Mary Durkin on Nov. 26, 1966. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include three sons: Shawn (Denise) Vandeloo, Lancaster, KS , Jeff (Kristen) Vandeloo, Olathe, KS and Scott Vandeloo, Atchison, KS, a brother Charles Vandeloo, Utica, NE and a sister Sharon Krick, Knox, IN, and six grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
