Obituary for Gregory Don James
Gregory D. James, 64, of Atchison KS died on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center following a long illness.
Memorial services will be at a later date back at the family farm in Texas. The body has been cremated. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Liver Foundation or the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Greg was born on July 4, 1957 in Grand Saline, Texas the son of Robert and Doris (Godwin) James. He graduated from high school in Texas and had some technical school training. Greg worked as the General Maintenance Supervisor at Bradken Steel Foundry in Atchison. He had worked there over 17 years. Greg enjoyed smoking meat, and grilling bar-b-que for his family and friends.
He was married to Audrey Blankenship on Oct. 1, 1995 in Mineola, TX. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include four sons Gregory D. James, Jr., Van TX, John B. James, Palmer,AK, Brandon K. James, Alba, TX, and Amon Stanely, Crab Orchard, West VA, two daughters Kristen Davis, Aurora , CO, and Barbara Bailey, Beartown, West VA, a brother Mike James, Fort Worth, TX , seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His parents, and a brother Robert L. James, preceded him in death.
