Dorothy Ola "Dot" (Hundley) Wilburn, 95, Atchison KS passed away on Wednesday, Feb 13, 2019 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, Feb. 19th, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, Atchison with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery . A parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Monday, Feb. 18th, 2019 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Place Endowment Fund or the Joel Wilburn Memorial Scholarship Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Dorothy was born on Sept. 19, 1923 in Atchison KS the daughter of Henry Bryant and Ruby Myrtle (Tull) Hundley. Dorothy and Earl J. Wilburn were united in marriage on Nov. 13, 1944 in Leavenworth, KS. Mr. Wilburn preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1995. In her younger years, Dorothy worked at Wilson’s and also as a housekeeper and child care provider for some families in and around Atchison. In her later year, she worked in the cafeteria at Mount St. Scholastica. As a member of the St. Joseph’s parish and later a member of St. Patrick’s parish, Dorothy was very active. She had served as President and other officer positions in the Altar Society. She was always involved in the annual chicken dinners the parishes held. Dorothy coordinated dances held at St. Patrick’s through the 1970’s and 1980’s. She also wrote articles for the Curlew Section of the Atchison Daily Globe. Dorothy loved to sew and to cook and she very much enjoyed watching “her” soap operas. However, her greatest love was being a housewife and mother.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: daughter Diana (Delbert) Boartright, sons Gregory Wilburn and Joseph “Jody” (Pam) Wilburn, all of Atchison. A sister Bettie Jean Miner, Atchison and a brother Harold (Susan) Hundley, St. Joseph, MO, Grandsons Barry (Dawn) White, Port Orchard, WA, Raymond White, and Leland (Colleen) Spencer, both of Topeka, KS, Brett (Audra) Wilburn, Portsmouth, VA, Eric Wilburn, Everett WA, and Jared Wilburn, Atchison, KS, a granddaughter Shanda Wilburn, Atchison, KS, eight great grand children, and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Earl, Jim, Henry B., Jr, and Charles Hundley, and two sisters, Ruby Cox, and Delia A. Burge, and one grandson, Joel Wilburn and three granddaughters Alisha Diane Wilburn, Marcia Kay White, and Kimberly Spencer Roney.
