Obituary for Cecelia M. "C.A." Bowen (Evans)

Cecelia M. “C.A.” Bowen, 85 of Atchison, KS, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, at Amberwell Atchison, KS.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, with Pastor Stephen Lucas, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the funeral home. Cecelia was born January 7, 1938 in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Fay and Masel (McCeary) Evans. She was a machine operator for Atchison Leather Products for twenty-nine years, along with owning and operating C&B Used Cars. Cecelia also worked at Atchison Laundry. She was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church, she enjoyed camping, fishing, birdwatching and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Cecelia and Don were married on September 18, 1961, in Atchison, he preceded her on October 17, 2017. She is survived by three grandchildren, Sabrina (Mike) Lasater, Michelle (Brandon) Underwood, and Ryan (Laura) Portenier, eight great grandchildren; Erin and Derrick Hughes, Jacob and Jaysha Portenier, Colin and Ari Lasater, Kerstin and Darrin Schmidt, Lexi Lasater, Kinley Underwood, Kennedy Portenier, Brooklynn Portenier, eight great great grandchildren; Audrey Belveal-Portenier, Levi Schmidt, Abel Portenier, Brynzlee Hughes, Jaxson Hughes, Owen Schmidt, Tatum Schmidt and TJ Portenier, nephew Larry Blakley and niece Sharon Blakley and care taker Linda Feek-Benitz.
Cecelia was also preceded by her parents, a son and daughter in law, John Jr. and Teresa Portenier, two sisters, Mildred Surritt and Mereta Huffman.
