Obituary for Ben Allen Richenburg

Ben Allen Richenburg, 76, Muscotah, KS passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Effingham, KS with Fr. Hugh Sundeme, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Ann’s Church. Ben was born in Enid, Oklahoma on March 21, 1943, the son of Paul John and Opal Lorraine (Weimer) Richenburg. Ben owned and operated his own livestock ranch in the Muscotah area and was such a good mechanic that he could fix anything on the ranch. Ben also drove a school bus for over 32 years, 15 of those years for USD 377 (Atchison County Community Schools). Ben loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ben was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him. Ben had a great sense of humor and loved teasing his grandchildren on many occasions and they enjoyed him teasing him right back.

Ben and Sara ‘Sue’ Knipp were married on December 27, 1965 in Scott City, KS.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 55 years, Sue; four children, John (Donna) Richenburg, Overland Park, KS, Anne (Gary) Silvers, Valley Falls, KS, Matt (Christina) Richenburg, Kansas City, MO, Luke (Kiesha) Richenburg, St. Paul, KS; sixteen grandchildren (Jake Silvers, Conner Richenburg, Kristina Silvers Hecke, Cole Richenburg, Garrett Silvers, Marta Richenburg, Lauren Richenburg, Emily Richenburg, Cooper Richenburg, Ben Richenburg, Luke Silvers, Henry Richenburg, Megan Richenburg, Michael Richenburg, Ashley Richenburg and Wyatt Silvers; one great granddaughter due in May; two brothers, Paul (Wilma) Richenburg, Oklahoma City, OK, and David Richenburg, Wichita, KS, sister, Patricia Webber, Potomac Falls, VA; and honorary son Joerg Forchel and Joerg’s children in Germany.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter Richenburg; and sister, Caroline Rahm.

We all will miss him very much.
