James E. "JJ"  Johnson
James E. “JJ” Johnson, 73, of Atchison KS died on Wednesday, Nov. 7th at the Kansas City Transitional Care facility in Kansas City, KS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2018, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Jim was born on Feb. 22, 1945 in Atchison, KS the son of Clarence and Hazel (Canfield) Johnson. He attended public grade school and graduated from Atchison High School in 1963. He worked as a quality control supervisor for Rockwell International, Atchison Casting and Bradken, retiring in 2009 after 45 years.

He was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as an Elder, on the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. Jim was faithful in his church attendance and in serving the Lord at Trinity. He especially enjoyed being grandpa to his two granddaughters and spending time with his beloved companion Pat.

He was married to Linda K. Luoma on Oct. 5, 1966. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2009. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Johnson, Kansas City, MO, and Jennifer (Tom) Brincefield, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Glennie Morace, Haysville, KS and Winnie Lear, Cleaton, KY, two granddaughters, Katelyn and Chloe Brincefield and companion, Pat Hetz, Atchison, KS. His parents, wife Linda, a brother, Merle “Bud” Johnson, and three sisters, Thelma Camilli, Alice Crosswhite-Gulardo, and Betty Strathman also preceded him in death.
