Ellen Dolores ‘DeDe’ (Brown) Fogler, 96, of St. Joseph, MO, formerly of Atchison, KS, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Private family inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home . Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Atchison and left in care of the funeral home. DeDe was born February 3, 1921 in Helena, Missouri, the daughter of Loren E. and Vera (Hoffmann) Brown. De De was educated in Iowa and Missouri and graduated from Weston (MO) High School in 1938. She graduated from a secretarial school in Kansas City, Missouri, and worked as a secretary before her marriage to Frank A. Fogler on November 24, 1943 in Weston. They moved to Atchison in 1946 where they owned Fogler Studio of Photography from 1946 to 1984. DeDe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atchison, Baptist Women’s Circle and she sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the Family, Community and Education Association; Atchison Historical Society; Friends of the Atchison Library. DeDe a member of the’ Ukulele Ladies Trio’ enjoyed playing the ukulele and volunteered her music at nursing homes and different activities. She is a life member of the Kansas Professional Photography Association. DeDe especially loved her home, family and granddaughter, Mary.

Her husband, Frank, preceded DeDe in death on February 27, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert E. Fogler on March 21, 2017; and a sister, Alice Benner.

Survivors include her daughter in law, Judy Fogler, St. Joseph, MO; a granddaughter, Mary (Chris) Brinton , St. Joseph, MO; great-grandchildren, Andrew, McKinley and Cade Brinton; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
