Bettie Gayle Linscott, 89, of Atchison KS died Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at the Atchison Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Neill officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am on Tuesday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship or Trinity Lutheran School Current Technology Fund and both may be sent in care of the funeral home. Bettie G. Leason and her sister Bonnie were the first identical twins born at the Atchison Hospital on March 5, 1927 the daughter of Gale and Betty (Bomar) Leason. Her father died three months before the twins were born. They were adopted and raised by grandparents Lula and John Leason. Bettie graduated from Atchison High School in 1945. She worked as a sales clerk in the ladies department for the former Diebolt’s Clothing Store, Atchison, KS and as a receptionist for Dr. Radke Orthodontist office. She was a member and former Deacon of the First Christian Church, a member of the Friendship Class, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Lady Elks. Bettie & Gene enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to Eugene Linscott on Nov. 11, 1945. Mr. Linscott preceded her in death on April 25, 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Ron) Estes, Atchison KS, and Sherry (Charlie) Lee, Manhattan, KS, a twin sister, Bonnie Hargrove, Atchison, five grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Leonardi, Kristin (Matt) Robinson, Scott Estes, Tucker (Jamie) Lee and Chance (Tracey) Lee and nine great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Eugene, and later companion Glen Stecher preceded her in death.
