Evelyn Louise (Haupt) Whitfield, 83, Rushville, MO passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at a local health care facility in St. Joseph, MO.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, August 5th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Friday, at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart, American Cancer or Alzheimer’s Associations and may be left in care of the funeral home. Evelyn was born on September 20, 1932 in the Good Intent Community the eldest child of Cecelia (Zeit) Haupt. The family moved to Atchison KS and she attended the Catholic schools. Evelyn had worked at several local restaurants with her mother, including Cash’s Restaurant on Main Street. She later worked at Ray’s Grocery Store before its closing, then worked 25 years for Safeway Grocery Store as a Clerk, meat wrapper and eventually head clerk.

She was married to Joe Whitfield in 1962 in Miami, OK. They lived in the Bean Lake area for many years. She later moved to Rushville, MO following Joe’s death on Nov. 9th, 1984. Her parents, Cecelia (Zeit) Haupt and step-father, Cleo Herbers, a sister Darlene Robinson Tull, brothers LeRoy and Richard Haupt preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Linden (Theresa) Whitfield, St. Joseph, MO, daughter-in –laws, Billie Kay Whitfield, Atchison, and Lori Steele Dugger, Atchison, KS, four grandchildren, Tiffany (Nick) Gallagher, Kyle Whitfield, Drake Whitfield, Gage Whitfield, and four great grandchildren, Aiden, Addisen, Adaleigh, and Adler Gallagher, and several nieces and nephews.¬¬¬¬
