Lucille Ann (Erpelding) Cameron, 71, lifelong resident of Lancaster, KS passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 19th, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri after a long battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Noll officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time of service at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Lucille cherished the comradery of the Cancer Support Group of Muscotah. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations payable to the Muscotah Chapter of the American Cancer Society and send in care of the funeral home. Lucille was born on July 1, 1945, in Atchison, KS the first child of ten children to Francis “Fritz” Erpelding and Eveline (Regan) Erpelding. She graduated Atchison County Community High School in 1963 and worked at Benedictine College as a secretary to the dean. She worked as an office manager for USD 377 at the grade school in Lancaster, where she very much enjoyed working with children and kept mementos of her time there until her death. She was active with the Friendly Farmers and Lancaster Lightning 4H Clubs, the Lancaster Lions Club, and the St. Louis Catholic Church. Nearing retirement, she worked at The Junction in Atchison. Lucille was very fond of gardening and bird watching at her Lancaster home, and also enjoyed seeing Kansas basketball games. She has been described by friends and family as strong, generous and determined with an awesome spirit. Lucille loved to talk about the travels and successes of her sons. We will all miss her chuckle. A heartfelt thank you to all who have offered love and support for the last few years.

Lucille married Duane L. Cameron on April 7, 1972. Survivors include her loving husband, Duane, and her sons, Steven Duane and John Francis Cameron, her siblings Mike (Jan) Erpelding, John Erpelding, Jean (Gary) Behrnes, Jim (Jill) , (Engaged) Erpelding, Rita (Roger) Smith, Marjie (Keith) Noll, Susie (Don) Jacobs and Tom (Jennifer) Erpelding along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Aaron and brother, Dan.
