Dorothy May Hill, 90, formerly of 1609 Atchison St, Atchison died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the LaVerna Village Nursing Home, Savannah, MO.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Strickland , Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church or to Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Dorothy M. Shoebrook was born on Feb. 2, 1926 in Horton, KS the daughter of Walter S. and Chrystabel (Pinder) Shoebrook. She graduated from Huron High School in 1944 and started working at Wilson Poultry at the age of 18. Dorothy next worked for Fitz Overall Company as a sewer, then worked at Electra Manufacturing, as a machine operator for Horton Garment Co for over 25 years. When the garment company closed she earned her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate and worked at Medicalodge. She later operated Dorothy’s Fabric Shop and did alterations for people out of her home. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Salt Unit, and 538 Club. She enjoyed sewing, and traveling.

Dorothy was married to Evar E. Hill on Jan 19, 1977. Mr. Hill preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1977. Survivors include a daughter, Doris I. (Maycroft) Christiansen, Savannah, MO, two grandchildren, three step grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters, Frances I. Shoebrook, and Eleanor E. Fultz, preceded her in death.
