Obituary for Richard Wayne Tull

Richard W. Tull, 72, of Atchison, KS passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Pastor Phillip O’Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at Sumner Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to KU Cancer Center or Walnut Fire District #3 and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Richard was born August 24, 1943, in Atchison, KS the son of Charles F. and Esther (Henderson) Tull. He graduated from Atchison High School. Richard had worked for Schmeldling and Kurtz and Gerald Ford Construction before being self employed construction, concrete, tree trimmer and snow remover. He also worked at Wal-Mart for twenty-two years. Richard was on the Rural Water District #1 board and volunteered with the Walnut Fire District #3. He enjoyed his kids, grandkids, deer and mushroom hunting, sports, and gardening tomatoes. Richard was an avid KU fan.

Richard married Kathleen D. Harned, in 1961, they later divorced. He married Lisa Bowen on March 6, 1981, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include eight daughters; Kimberly (Forrest) Wright, Skipperville, AL, Bridget (Ed) Peters, Ozark, AL, JT (Steve) Barker, Macon, GA, Sonya (Bennie) Wint, Marshall, NC, Michelle (Dan) Hynek, Omaha, NE, Denise Hinson, Carter Lake, IA, Stephanie (Chad) Phillips Platte City, MO, Amanda (Chris) Hoffman, Denton, KS, two sons; Brett (Laura Cairo)Tull, Atchison, KS and Sam Tull, Atchison, KS, four brothers; James Tull, Atchison, KS, David Tull, Atchison KS, John Tull, Atchison, KS, Ronnie Tull, Rossville, KS, two sisters; E. Anita Lively, Cummings, KS, Martha Franzel, Huron, KS, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Charles and Forrest Tull and a sister; Reva Boger.
