Connie Carol Fitzgerald, 79, of Kansas City, MO died Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 at the Truman-Lakewood Care Center.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home, with Abbot Barnabus Senecal, OSB officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested for Alzheimer’s or Dementia Research and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family maybe left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Connie was born on June 25, 1936 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Loyal and Venita (Thomas) Childers. She graduated from Mt. St. Scholastica Academy in 1954 and went on to earn her Registered Nurse Degree from Penn Valley College in 1979. She worked as a registered nurse in Kansas City for Menorah Hospital, Truman-Neurological Care Center, and did Home Health in Kansas City. Connie enjoyed shopping, sports, music, reading, traveling, animals and being outdoors.

She was married to James Fitzgerald in 1969, they later divorced. Survivors include two sons: Sean (Lea) Fitzgerald, Harrisonville, MO, and Kerry (Tammy) Kirkwood, Kansas City, KS, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, five nieces and numerous cousins and friends. Her parents, brother, Larry Chiders, and a significant friend, Jerry Coleman, preceded her in death.
