Bertha Marie Ruhnke, 90, of Sun City, Arizona died Saturday morning January 30, 2016.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, Feb. 4th, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund, Atchison and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Bertha Marie Molloy was born on Sept. 29, 1925 near Troy, KS the daughter of Timothy B. and Bertha M. (Allison) Molloy. She graduated from Troy High School in 1943 and married her high school sweet heart, Floyd Ruhnke on Feb 5, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ. Marie spent much of her married life in Atchison, KS where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Active in many church groups and activities she was also a member of the Atchison Soroptimist, and Bellevue Women’s Golf group. Marie was well known in the community for her work at Sears and at Stanton Mortuary. After retirement she and Floyd moved to Sun City and Marie continued her golf, was active with Bell Ceramics Club, and Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. Marie enjoyed basketball, golf, playing cards and board games especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Floyd Ruhnke, of the home, her daughter Barbara Ruhnke-David and her husband K.N. “Jack” David, Litchfield Park, AZ, Grandsons Robert J. (Tonia) Ruhnke, Hutchinson, KS and Christopher D. (Heidi) Ruhnke, Warrensburg, MO., four great grandchildren: Caleb Ruhnke, Hutchinson, KS and Cailynn, Carson and Jonathan Ruhnke, Warrensburg, MO. Her parents, a son, Major Robert A. Ruhnke, and a brother, James Molloy preceded her in death.
