Charlotte Irene Black, 88, of Rushville, MO, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Rushville Christian Church, Rushville, MO, with Rev. George Baugh officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Memorials are suggested to Rushville Christian Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Charlotte was born April 12, 1927 in Chillicothe, MO, the daughter of William Russell and Etta Ellen (Wallis) Griffin. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1945. Charlotte was a member of the Rushville Christian Church and worked her entire life in the Atchison Community; Mop Factory, Moody Drive-In, Atchison Leather Products, Montezuma Restaurant, T.G. & Y and the Public Water Supply District of Buchanan County. She was an accomplished seamstress all her life.

Charlotte was united in marriage to Howard Glenn Black on May 17, 1947, in Kansas City, KS. To this union, four children were born, Gary Eugene, Dennis Ray, Carole Lynne and Glenn William. Survivors include her husband of the home, their three children; son Gary (Claudia) Black, Rushville, MO; daughter, Carole Lynne (Robert) Gering, Winchester, KS, son, Glenn (Martha) Black, DeKalb, MO; six grandchildren; Edward (Holly) Black, Elizabeth (Chad) Johnson, Heather (Jeffrey) Ogle, James (Lisa) Black, Stephen Black, Hannah Black, and eight grandchildren Ayden Black, Elijah Black, Emma Johnson, Isabella Black, Garrette Ogle, Claire Johnson, Blake Ogle and Molly Johnson and two sisters; Shirley Reder and Linda Brox and two brothers; Roger Griffin and Franklin Griffin.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; a son Dennis Ray Black, two brothers; Bobby and William Griffin, two sisters; Clyta Miller and Margaret Dougherty and a grandson, James Edward Black.
