Obituary for Rosalie Denton-Speer (Lawrence)

Rosalie Speer, 85, of Atchison, KS died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School Grant Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Rosalie was born on Nov. 20, 1929 in DeKalb, MO the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Stone) Lawrence. She attended Valley Chapel Grade School and graduated from Rushville High School in 1947. She had previously worked at Electra Mfg Co., in food service for USD #409, and then for Mt. St. Scholastica Academy She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and Pineview County Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing golf, gardening and reading.

She was married to Kenneth Denton on Dec. 19, 1950 at the First Christian Church, Atchison. Mr. Denton preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1975. She was later married to Donald Speer on July 24th, 1995 in Oklahoma. Mr. Speer survives of the home. Additional survivors include three sons; Michael (Tina) Denton, Atchison, KS., Duane Denton, Atchison, and Shayne (Laura) Denton, Kansas City, MO., five step-daughters; Tina Frazer, Gardner, KS., Sherry Osborne, Kansas City, KS., Robyn Klawuhn, Rushville, MO., Jenny Funk, Nortonville, KS., and Laura Portenier, Atchison KS., a brother; Dean Lawrence, Platte City, MO., and two sisters; Doris Thompson, Mechanicsville,MD., and Raelene Berry, Olathe, KS., six grandchildren, fifteen step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren. Her parents, Raymond & Helen Lawrence Kenney, first husband Kenneth Denton, brother Jerry Lawrence preceded her in death.
