Betty Kathryn Sowers, 85, of Atchison Kansas died Sunday, July 26th, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church Buildings and Grounds Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Betty was born on June 30, 1930 in Wathena, Kansas the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Calloway) Kirschbaum. She attended schools in St. Joseph, MO. Betty worked for many years as the secretary/receptionist for Dr. Brown, DDS, Atchison KS. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed raising flowers, roses, and baking for her family.

She was married to Edwin Sowers on April 8, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Sowers survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Ron Sowers, Monrovia, KS, and his fiancee’ Penny Hoover, and a sister Jean (Don) Raines, Helena, MO. Her parents, two brothers, Carl and Bill Kirschbaum, and four sisters Mary Wright, Carol Zembels, Connie Lawhon, and Phyliss Mollus, preceded her in death.
