Esther Maxine Scott, 89, of Atchison, KS, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Atchison Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS with Rev. Joseph Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Carol Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Esther was born June 23, 1925 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Benoni Firth and Minnie Revenia (Kelsay) VanValkenburg. She was a homemaker, and also had an in home daycare. Esther was a charter member of Carol Baptist Church. She enjoyed entertaining missionaries that came to church, and getting emails from them. Esther also enjoyed making greeting cards for family and friends, walking along Riverview Drive. She loved making dinner every Sunday after church for her family.

Esther married Edward L. Scott on February 22, 1946 at Carol Baptist Church, Atchison, KS; he preceded her in death on October 30, 2002. Survivors include two sons; Larry and Kathy Scott, Atchison, KS, Roger Scott, Lawrence, KS, five daughters; Christle Vass, Atchison, KS, Lavon and Charles Buttron, Lancaster, KS, Cindy and Barry Sisson, Warsaw, IN, Jennifer Lopez, Newton, KS, Dana and Steve Brandt, Palmyra, MI, eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by her parents.
