Martin Lee Black, 75, of Rushville MO died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation with family will be 2:00 – 4:00 pm Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. No funeral services will be held according to Mr. Black’s wishes. The body will be cremated and private family interment at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, will be at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital or Sugar Creek Ladies Aide Hall and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Martin Lee was born on Feb. 11, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO the son of Harold T. and Helen M. “Granny” (Stuart) Black. He attended Rushville and DeKalb Schools. Mr. Black worked as a fork lift driver and general maintenance man for Page Airways, Accent Storage and Government Cave Storage, Atchison for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, doing small engine repair and going to the casinos.

He was married to Carol Clemens on Aug, 21, 1959 at the Rushville Christian Church. Mrs. Black survives of the home. Additional survivors include four sons, Donald L. (Kristi) Black, Weston, MO, David L. (Sherri) Black, St. Joseph, MO, Darryl L. (Heather) Black, Merriam, KS, and Larry D. Black, Rushville, MO, three brothers, Richard Black, Sugar Lake, Mo, Terry and Mike Black both of Rushville, MO, five sisters, Nancy Browning, Rushville, MO, Helen McElfresh, Independence, MO, Connie Kiefer, Rushville, MO, Pat Brant, and Sharon Fitkin, both of Sugar Lake, MO, Four grandchildren; Kimberly Klostermayer, Weston, MO, Brandon Black, Kansas City, KS, Dylan Black, Kansas City, KS, and Chelsea Black, St. Joseph, MO , one great granddaughter; Kyra Klostermayer, Weston, MO, and his faithful dog – Pooh Bear. His parents, Harold T. Black and Helen “Granny” Wynkoop, daughter, Nancy Janelle Black, sister, Kay Davenport, and brother, Tommy Black, preceded him in death.
