Janet K. Reeves, 48, of Atchison KS died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Friday, March 27th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Whitley, Pastor Paul and Marla Kelley, and Pastor Scott Pritchard co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery, Everest, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, March 26th, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kendall wood Hospice, Brain Trauma Foundation or for the Atchison Valley Hope and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Janet was born on Sept. 29, 1966 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of Arlen G. and Helen (Horner) Thompson. She graduated from Troy High School in 1985, graduated from Missouri-Western College in 1999, and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas, in 2008. Janet worked as a drug and alcohol counselor for Valley Hope for 10 years, and worked for one year as a Benefits Advisor for the Adj. General’s Office from 2006-2007. She was a member of the Faith Valley Church of God, Atchison and served as Worship Leader. Mrs. Reeves was also a member of the Horton Lakeview Country Club and enjoyed traveling, singing in the Praise Band, studying God’s Word, and helping people. She especially enjoyed her labradoodle puppies, Boaz and Ruth and her grandchildren.

Janet was married to Clinton Lee Wisdom on May 1, 1999. Sgt. Wisdom was killed in Baghdad, Irag on Nov. 8, 2004. She was later married to SFC (R) George Reeves on May 27, 2011. Mr. Reeves survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Zach McDonell, Atchison, a daughter, Kara McDonell, Atchison, KS, a step son – Curtis Reeves, Sabetha, KS., two step daughters, Anna Wisdom, Kansas City, MO., and Lindsey Reeves, Sabetha, KS. , two brothers, Gary Thompson, Horton, KS., and Tim Thompson, Topeka, KS., a sister, Debbie Hower, Altamount, MO, twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, step mother, Maxine Thompson, and husband Clinton Wisdom preceded her in death.
