Dora Lucy Kiernan, 99 years old, of Winchester, Kansas and formerly of Kansas City KS died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the F.W. Houston Senior Living Center, Winchester, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 24th, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Easton, KS. Burial will follow in the Corpus Christi Cemetery, Mooney Creek, KS. A family rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 23rd, 2015 at the O’Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville, KS with visitation to follow from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences and memories to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Dora Lucy Reynolds was born on August 2, 1915 in Winchester, Kansas the daughter of Thomas and Lucy (Gibson) Reynolds. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1934. She played basketball on an undefeated girl’s basketball team. The story Dora tells her family was that she was a faster runner than any of the boys in school. She was married to Leo James Kiernan on Aug. 19th, 1939. Mr. Kiernan preceded her in death on Aug 20, 1988. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Easton, KS and was active in church and community activities. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making embroided quilts, fishing and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include two sons; Jim Kiernan, Keller, TX., and Ed Kiernan, Lawrence, KS., two daughters; Elaine Berndt, Sanger, TX and Nancy O’Bannon, Kansas City, KS., three brothers; Harvey(Imogene) Reynolds, Winchester, KS., James Reynolds, Winchester, KS., and Don (Carol) Reynolds, Winchester, KS , sixteen grandchildren, and thirty-five great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Leo, a son, Thomas Kiernan, two brothers; Alvin and Lewis Reynolds, and two sisters; Irene Smith, and Ethel Coppinger preceded her in death.
