Mary Agnes Sharp, 98, formerly of Effingham, KS died Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 at the Overland Park Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, Overland Park, KS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, Dec. 20th, 2014 at the Effingham Union Church with Rev. Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Effingham Union Church. The Becker Chapel, Effingham is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Effingham Union Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences and memories to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Mary Agnes Kurn was born on Jan. 22, 1916 on a farm southwest of Effingham, Kansas the daughter of George H. and Hattie E. (Marsh) Kurn. She graduated from Effingham High School, taught school one year prior to becoming a bride and homemaker. Later Mary worked for the former Electra Company, Atchison and the Horton/Atchison Garment Company where she was a seamstress for over 20 years before retirement. She was a member of the Effingham Union Church, the Ruth Circle, the Happy Hour Club, Garment Company Retirees Bunco Club and enjoyed playing bingo, bungo, sewing, canning, reading, and gardening.

Mary was married to Raymond William Broyles on June 8, 1935 in Atchison KS. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1964. She was later married to Ernest R. Sharp on Feb. 16, 1966 in Atchison and he preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1982
Survivors include three daughters, Esther (Arthur) Figueroa, Lakewood, CA, Linda Burch, Prairie Village, KS, and Rosemary (Robert) Hiebsch, Overland Park, KS. Step Children, Robert E. (Dorothy) Sharp, Berryton, KS and Joyce (Gary) Rasdall, Effingham, KS , Twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, both husbands, two daughters, Phyllis Lewis, and Judith Riley, brother, John Kurn, sister, Elsie Hawk, Son-in-law, Calvin Burch, Step Son- Lloyd Sharp, grandson Patrick Riley, and great granddaughter, Lisa VanDorn preceded her in death.
