Robert Nelson "Bob"  Burge
Robert Nelson Burge, 82, Lancaster, KS, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sumner Cemetery, south of Atchison. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in honor of Robert are suggested to Disabled American Veterans and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Robert was born on July 4, 1932, in Atchison, the son of Ernest Wesley and Inez Ruth (Pennington) Burge. Bob attended school in Atchison prior to his entry into military service where he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bob worked various jobs throughout his life including truck driver, mechanic, and roofer. He was the ‘Kettle Man’ when they would need to tar a roof. Bob liked to tinker on cars and enjoyed doing puzzle books. Bob was a good man with a big heart and loved his family very much.

Bob is survived by four sons, Robert Burge, Muscotah, Nelson Burge, Lancaster, Dwight Burge, Atchison and Pat Burge, Lancaster; daughter, Tracey Shumaker, Netawaka, KS; brother, Donald Burge, Potter, KS; ten grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lester, Ernest ‘Bud’ and Kenny; five sisters, Betty, Opal, Shirley, Lois Jean, and Dorothy.
