Obituary for Emogene Ruth Kautz (Young)

Emogene Ruth Kautz, 82, of Atchison KS died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Atchison Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy J. Kollhoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 11, 20124 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Emogene was born on September 26, 1931 in Cummings, KS, the daughter of Arthur B. and Mary (Drimmel) Young, Sr. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham in 1949. She started working for the Atchison Daily Globe in 1950 and retired in 2000 as the production department manager. Emogene was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, the Martha Washington Chapter # 215 Order of the Eastern Star, Beauceants , Zonta Club, and served on the Board and was a member of the Atchison Historical Society. She worked at the Atchison Visitor Center, and the Cray Museum Carriage House. She enjoyed crocheting. Her true passion was her family

She was married to Glen E. Kautz on May 17, 1952 at Cummings United Methodist Church. Mr. Kautz preceded her in death on September 21, 1994. Survivors include two sons Michael (Cindy) Kautz, Overland Park, KS, and David (Beth) Kautz, Lenexa, KS, three sisters, Miriam Kaighin, Kansas City MO, JoAnn Kautz, Atchison, KS., and Bonnie Ricklefs, Bendena, KS., four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her parents, husband and three brothers preceded her in death.
