Mamie M. Davies, 86 of Atchison, KS, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Atchison Senior Village.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, with Pastor Stephen Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Faith Bible Fellowship or Parkinson Association, or NEK Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
Mamie was born October 9, 1927 in Elwood, KS, the daughter of Gilbert and Pearl (Thompson) Kendall. She graduated from Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, MO. Mamie worked alongside her husband Jim at their APCO service station across the river in Winthrop, MO. She was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship. She served on the Lancaster, KS city council for a term. Mamie enjoyed fishing, crocheting and spending time with her kids and grandchildren.
Mamie married James Davies on March 18, 1961 in Troy, KS. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1993. Survivors include two sons; Rodger Berry, Lancaster, KS and Steve Davies, Atchison, KS, two sisters; Alma Gossett, Savannah, MO, and Julie Hass, St. Joseph, MO and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Forrest Marlowe and Stephen Kendall, a brother; Louis Kendall and two sisters; Abbey Glau and Jean Handy.
