Joseph Morgan Grider, 75, of Bendena, KS, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, MO.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Grider are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home. Joseph was born on April 2, 1939 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Dean and Fannie (Reed) Grider. Upon graduation from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO; Joe served his country in the US Marine Corps. Joe worked most of his life for KW Dart in Kansas City, MO, building Peterbilt and Kenworth semi-tractors. Later he worked as a salesman for Phalen Chevrolet, a self-employed painting contractor and a caregiver at a group home in Sabetha, KS. Joe was a former member of the Auto Workers Union.

Joseph and Virginia ‘Ginger’ Jenkins were married on February 18, 1984 in Atchison.

Joe is survived by his wife of thirty years, Ginger Grider; six sons, Bret, Bart, Billy, Gary, Brent, and Jason Grider; three daughters, Jody Zollman, Stacy Garcia, and Kathy Grider; twenty-three grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Stephanie Grider and Maria Grider-Mount; four brothers; and two sisters.
