Rose Mary Murphy, 91, of Atchison, KS passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Atchison Hospital, Atchison, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014, with parish rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Memorials are suggested to St. Benedict’s Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Rose Mary was born February 26, 1923 in Baileyville, KS the daughter of John and Rose (Olberding) Dreier. She graduated from Sabetha High School in 1941. Rose was a housewife and homemaker for her family; she also worked as a bookkeeper for Lutz Brothers Dodge and Atchison Hospital, and did tailoring for JCPenney. Rose Mary was a very active member of St. Benedict’s Church, a member and past president of Daughters of Isabella. She was an avid bridge and scrabble player.

Rose Mary married Robert William Murphy on October 23, 1945 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Fall City, NE. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1998. Survivors include their children; Larry and Carol Sue Murphy, Kansas City, MO, Mary Rose Murphy, Escondido, CA, Bill and Coleen Murphy, Atchison, KS, John Murphy and Sheryl, Plano, TX, R. Michael Murphy and Michelle, Wichita, KS, grandchildren; Michael Murphy, Megan Jansen, Peter Murphy, Sarah Murphy, Christine Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Patrick Murphy, great grandchildren; James Jansen, Jack Jansen.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Patricia Murphy and Teresa Murphy, and four sisters; LaVera Bennett, Lillian McClain, Violetta Wikle, Lucille Bearce.
