Mary Ann Denton, 100 of Atchison, KS passed away Tuesday April 15, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday April 26th, 2014 at Atchison United Methodist Church, with Rev. Nancy J Kollhoff officiating. Private family burial of cremains will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton, KS. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM the day of the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Mary Ann was born January 23, 1914 at home in Denton, KS, the daughter of Gambetta and Lucy (Niederhouser) Gerardy. She was a loving mother and housewife, but also had worked as a sales clerk at JCPenney and a purchasing agent for Lockwood Co. Mary Ann was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, a member of Order of Eastern Star Martha Washington Chapter #215. She was an avid pinochle player, quilter teddy bear maker and enjoyed volunteering at Atchison Hospital Auxiliary for over fifty years.

She married Louis Raymond Denton on March 2, 1939 in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1961. Survivors include three sons and their spouses: Larry and Frances Denton, Kansas City, MO, Ronald and Joanne Denton, Fairway, KS, David and Linda Denton, Jacksonville, OR, five grandchildren; Suzanne Perlik, Jeffrey and Pamela Denton, Graham and Spencer Denton, two great grandchildren; Benjamin and Abigail Perlik.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Joe and George Gerardy and a sister Josephine Denton.
