Thomas Loftus Gray, 97, of Atchison, KS died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at St. Louis Church, Good Intent with Fr. Benjamin Tremmel, OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Cemetery. Prayer service will begin at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 11th, 2014 with visitation to follow until 8:30pm at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Louis Church or for Masses and may be left at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Thomas was born June 23, 1916, in Atchison, Kansas. He was the son of Thomas W. and Grace (Hund) Gray. He attended school at St. Louis Parish School. He was a lifelong member of the St. Louis Church, Good Intent, where he was an active until recently.
Tom was a life-long farmer in the Good Intent community, west of Atchison. He was a true environmentalist and loved the land, as he enjoyed farming and raising cattle well past the age of the typical retirement. He received the Atchison County Farmers Conservation Award in 2001 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His other passions included gardening (both flowers and vegetables), reading, restoring antiques and applying a resourceful spirit to whatever he did. He also loved his family and friends.
He and Alice Evelyn Weber were united in marriage on June 23, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Church, Atchison, Kansas. Mrs. Gray preceded him in death on May 27, 2013.
Survivors include his two sons, David (Marietta) Gray of Wichita, and Don (Jane) Gray of Atchison, two grandsons: Trevor (Ashley) Gray of Grantville, KS and Cole (Tassie) Gray of West Hollywood, CA. and two great grandchildren, Chance and Kyndol of Grantville.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Corpstein, three brothers, Robert, Edward, and Jerry Gray and one granddaughter, Danielle.
