Obituary for Lester Lee Chalfant
Lester Lee Chalfant, 89 of Everest, KS passed away Sunday March 30, 2014 at his home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday April 3, 2014 at Lancaster United Methodist Church, Lancaster, KS with Rev. Lou Davies officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Huron Cemetery, Huron KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison KS. Memorials are suggested to Lancaster United Methodist Church youth program and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
Lester was born July 9, 1924 in Old Huron, KS the son of Lester Lee and Lorena S. (Hawk) Chalfant Sr. He graduated from ACCHS in 1942. Lester Lee was a dairy farmer, a member of Lancaster United Methodist Church, Huron volunteer fire fighter, Masonic Mason, Huron school board member and a Mid American Dairy Association member and board member.
He was married to Esther Speer on July 23, 1950 in Horton, KS; she preceded him in death on August 9, 2008. Survivors include his six children; Wayne (Anita) Chalfant, Everest, KS, Carl (Vickie) Chalfant, Washington, KS, Bruce (Judy) Chalfant, Everest, KS, Lois (Ted) Gibbs, San Antonio, TX., Rita (Matt) Cross, Lancaster, KS, John (Sheila) Chalfant, Lancaster, KS, two sisters Helen Harden and Doris Rogers, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
