Shirley May Hawk 78, of Effingham, KS passed away September 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Effingham Union Church, Effingham KS, with Rev. Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the church. Shirley was born January 27, 1935 at home in Brown county, KS, the daughter of Ernest and Lillie (Thompson) Lassley. She graduated from ACCHS in 1953. Shirley was a housewife and homemaker. She held numerous jobs in the community. Shirley was a member of Effingham Union Church. Her greatest love was her, husband, kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Shirley married Leonard Hawk on October 17, 1954 at Horton Methodist Church. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters: Debbie (David) Parnell, Effingham, KS, Diana (Craig) Hulings, Carbondale, KS, Kate (Greg) Hawk Roque, Belgrade, MT, three sons: Terry (Diane) Hawk, Manhattan, KS, Tom (Cheryl) Hawk, Effingham, KS, Covell Hawk, Effingham, KS, a sister; Lola Parkerson, Topeka, KS, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Junior and Richard Lassley.
