Obituary for Harvey Schraer

Harvey Ernest Schraer, 76, of Effingham, KS passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Atchison Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Becker Chapel, Effingham, KS, with Rev. Jeff Cochran, Effingham Union Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Netawaka Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Harvey was born August 6, 1936 in Powhattan, KS the only child of George and Emma (Glenn) Schraer. He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1954. Harvey was a salvage dealer and had been a heavy equipment operator for the Benton Township. He enjoyed making his living scrapping and in his free time he liked to go fishing. Harvey never met a stranger and was always available to lend a helping hand to his friends.

Harvey married Sandy (Doyle) Stults on November 22, 1977 in Garden City, KS. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Dave (Liz) Schraer, Wetmore, KS; daughters, Norma (Gerald) Gossman, Garden City, KS; Betty Schraer, Netawaka, KS; Brenda Schraer, Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, David Ernest Schraer.
