Desirae Nicole Crossland, 15, of Atchison, KS, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 following an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 4, 2013 at Memorial Hall with Abbott James Albers, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30 PM, Thursday, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to help defray funeral expenses. Desirae was born August 10, 1997 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of Rory Crossland and Colene Strong. She was currently a freshman at Atchison High School. Desirae was very outgoing and loved animals, especially dogs. She volunteered at the Atchison Humane Society and Atchison Childcare. Desi liked playing video games, listening to music on her iPod and going fishing. She also enjoyed keeping up with friends via social media and taking her dog ‘Jo Jo’ on walks.

Those left to cherish Desirae’s memory include her father, Rory Crossland, Kansas City, KS; mother, Colene Strong, Atchison, KS; grandparents, Les & Joyce Crossland, Atchison, KS; David & Marlene Bowers, Rushville, MO; great-grandma, Marvine Strong, Rushville, MO; brother, Tyler Gates; sister, Felicity Crossland, both of Atchison; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
